Sequencing Batch Reactor
(SBR)
The Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is an activated sludge process designed to operate in a batch mode with aeration and sludge settlement both occurring in the same tank where the functions of aeration and sedimentation are carried out in a timed sequence.

Some of the advantages of the SBR process:
-
requires a relatively small footprint
-
design is simple
-
does not require a clarifier
-
settling is effectively quiescent to enhance solid separation
Extended Aeration
Extended Aeration is a modification of the Activated Sludge Process that is a complete mix system and provides biological treatment for the removal of biodegradable organic wastes under aerobic conditions.

Advantages of the Extended Aeration Process:
-
lower capital investment
-
better at handling organic loading and flow fluctuations
-
requires a relatively small footprint
-
easy to operate with low operating and maintenance costs
-
low sludge yield
-
operation is odorless
